Hot August Nights
Monsoon slow this summer
Here we are in late August already. It seems like the summer just blew right through. Yes, its still pretty warm with highs in the 80's and lows in the high 50's but we could sure use some rain! We had a few good storms that cooled things off and gave a big lift to our gardens. But overall, its been a slow monsoon season here. On the bright side the Forest Service never deemed it necessary to close the forests so we and our guests have been able to enjoy the many trails in the woods. People sometimes ask us what there is to see and do here. Well, there is quite a bit starting with a trip up to the San Francisco Peaks and either enjoying a serious hike to the summit taking 7 to 8 hours or you can ride the gondola for a magnificent view. The Gondola is located at Arizona Snowbowl right at the base of the peaks. You might wish to visit the world class Museum of Northern Arizona. Just a 15 minute drive from Historic Downtown Flagstaff is the spectacular Walnut Canyon where you can see up very close ancient Indian cliff dwellings. Just a few suggestions and there are a lot more things to do, just ask us and we will steer you right. Give us a call, Steve & Marnie, Elden Trails Bed and Breakfast 928-266-0230.
